Senior Support Worker

Role Description
We have an opportunity for enthusiastic and passionate Senior Support Worker to lead a team and to provide person-centred support to adults and young people with a various needs to make a positive difference to their lives.
Duties may include:
• Provide positive, safe and person-centred support to individuals with various needs, often on a 1:1 basis
• Ensure good communication within all levels of the staff team
• Work closely with the Deputy Manager and Service manager to ensure the quality of the service is of a high standard
• Encourage, mentor and support a team to work to the best of their ability
• Oversee and organise the daily recording of information relating to service users
• Identify the service user’s emotional, physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs and support individuals to make appropriate decisions for action in consultation with the Management team
• Work in a supportive manner with family members, external professionals and colleagues
• Assist in maintaining a good standard of safety, hygiene and tidiness, when required, to check all equipment including emergency and fire equipment and report any defects
• Carry out quality audits and document appropriately
• Ensure accurate recordings and reporting of all accidents and incidents that may occur involving service users and or staff and to record relevant information in the appropriate place
• Prepare reports and participating in service user’s reviews as required
• Participate in staff meetings, contributing to the review of current working practices and future developments
• Coordinate and monitor the staff rotas and delegate, organise and find cover for overtime shifts and cover absence when required
• Provide a positive atmosphere and lead by example
• Be part of the 1st response team
Requirements:
• Minimum 12 months relevant experience in the care sector or similar
• NVQ Diploma in Health & Social Care Level 2 and have, or be committed to completing Level 3
• Enthusiastic and motivated with a positive attitude
• Loyal and committed
• Good listening and communication skills
• The ability to manage challenging situations
• A full, clean driving license would be an advantage but not essential
