Lead Support Worker (Westbury-on-Severn)

About the role
You’ll provide excellent support to two individuals with exceptionally complex requirements. You’ll support the individuals in all aspects of their daily lives, enabling their fullest participation in the life of their community.

You’ll be assigned area(s) of lead responsibility; for example autism, personality disorder, speech and language, positive behaviour management, psychiatry or health. As such you’ll be responsible for liaising with external professionals and devising support plans and risk assessments relating to your lead area. You’ll communicate this specialist knowledge to colleagues to produce a coherent and integrated package of support. You’ll also liaise with family members.

In the longer term you may also line manage Support Workers, however management experience isn’t required.

About you
You can demonstrate that you are able to support people through challenging and difficult times using Positive Behavioural Support and a positive can-do attitude. You’ll have experience of supporting people with learning disabilities including supporting people with challenging behaviour and mental health needs. You’ll have experience of supporting people with personality disorders and of working with multi-disciplinary teams. You’ll also have experience of working with people with non-verbal communication and self-harming behaviour.

Resilient and an innovative problem solver with a flexible attitude you are willing to try new activities and have an encouraging approach. Longer term you’ll need to be flexible with regards to location, as in the future you may bring your skills and experience to the benefit of services in other, nearby, locations.

You’ll need to be flexible around shift and weekend work as the role includes a 24/7 rota. It will be highly desirable that you have a full driving licence, and are able and willing to use your own vehicle on business (for which mileage expenses will be paid).
