Shared Lives Carer
Gloucester Shared Lives Scheme offers an alternative to traditional social care options. It is flexible and offers support within a home environment. This could be for a few days, a few weeks, on an outreach, or long-term basis. We are currently looking to recruit Shared Lives Carer Workers who are willing to share their lives and their home enabling more people to access wider choice in their care options. Shared Lives Care workers may support older people returning from hospital, people with dementia, people with disabilities and/or people affected by mental health conditions.
Shared Lives Carers will need to demonstrate commitment to providing care in a person-centred way in a safe and welcoming environment. You may already have care experience professionally or personally and you will have ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people with additional needs.
We are looking for people who have a compassionate outlook and want to share their lives and interests with someone who may benefit from a personalised care situation. We would expect you to be a patient and flexible person who is understanding of people’s individual and varied needs.
You will be designated and supported by a trained Shared Lives Officer. As our service is regulated by the Care quality Commission, you will need to be fully committed to completing induction and on-going training. If you are new to Caring and are willing to complete all necessary training, you are very welcome to apply.
Shared Lives Carers work on a self-employed basis. We can help you find relevant information on how to register as self-employed. You will be paid a fee on a scale applicable to the needs of the people you care for. In the first instance, please call or e-mail our friendly team to discuss further or to request an application form.
