Becky was able to transfer the skills and knowledge she had developed working in a Children’s nursery to her first role in Adult Social care, working nights in a residential nursing home. From this role Becky progressed through different roles such as specialist dementia care. When Becky started at Saracen Care Services as a Support Worker she enjoyed the variety in her role, supporting individuals to be independent and confident across a variety of tasks from shopping, doing laundry or booking holidays.
The continuous training and development Becky received enabled her to progress to her current role as a Care Manager. She feels that Saracen Care realised from the beginning that she had more to give, and encouraged and helped her to grow in order to achieve this potential.
On a daily and weekly basis Becky supports staff to support the service users; to keep them safe, make sure they have their medication and attend GP appointments, booking holidays and enjoy good, basic life skills. This will enable them to have some independent time, and possibly, eventually live in their own homes. Becky enjoys being part of a well supported service working for a Skills for Care Best Employer Finalist – Saracen Care.
Becky loves her job, and is passionate about it, if something isn’t working; she is able to make changes to make things work. When she visits a service she looks at it from the user’s perspective and asks her self whether she would want to live there?
If you are thinking about applying for a career in care Becky would tell you to give it a try! Like Becky you could do something every day that you love!
