In 2002, Gez's wife was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and at that time Gez was a self employed accountant. He came across nurses who were doing fantastic job and it got him thinking about changing careers. Gez knew the job was so important, and vowed to himself to give something back. Gez's wife unfortunately passed away, but he eventually remarried. Gez's wife was very supportive and encouraged him to join the care sector as he showed a passion for it
Gez's career progression has surpassed what he imagined it to be. Gez came into care to help people and is now a home manager of a 62 bedded dementia only home. Somebody saw something in him and invested in him to get him to where he is now. The home where he works strive to develop their staff and it hsa become the culture there.
The job satisfaction Gez receives is second to none. Taking the stresses and anxieties away from people absolutely makes their day, and that is what makes Gez proud to care.
