Helen decided to have a change of career 17 years ago. She wanted to so something more rewarding and started working with people with learning disabilities. She then worked with people who had learning and physical disabilities and then started working with young people who are homeless and struggling with accommodation.
Helen started working as support worker and undertook an NVQ in health and social care. She gained her level one and then progressed to level three, which helped her become a Support Work Coordinator. Helen explains there is so much scope for her to progress and she find this really fulfilling.
Helen loves seeing the difference you make to a young person, from when they move into the project and are shy and unsure to when you move them on into their own place and they have blossomed. Helen also loves her job as you are always learning. Each and every person you work with is totally different and in Helen's opinion its the best job you can have.
Watching a young person blossom into a young adult makes Helen proud to care.
