Nic was out of work after just leaving university and wasn't sure what he wanted to do. He was coaching at a youth football team when one day a parent of a player approached him and asked if he fancied a role in care. At first Nic wasn’t sure that it was a job for him, but as he progressed he found his element in it.
Nic's manager saw qualities in him that she thought would be ideal for a Lead Support Worker role and found a course that would help his progression. On the course Nic learnt a variety of different leadership skills which helped him get into the role he has today - Lead Support Worker.
Nic loves his job and finds it extremely rewarding. He explains that you go on a journey with each individual, you have good days and you have bad days, but the improvement you see in them makes it all worthwhile and that's why Nic is Proud to Care.
The job itself is also very variable and Nic has even taken residents on holidays. They've been to Butlins and Florida and Nic wouldn’t have thought he will be going to different places as part of his job!
Nic's key piece of advice would be to treat every individual differently, take each day as it comes and put a smile on your face.
