Apprenticeships
An apprenticeship is a real job that combines practical training carried out in the workplace with study. There are currently over 200 apprenticeship standards at multiple levels approved for delivery in a range of careers.
Apprentices:
- Are open to anyone above the age of 16
- Are paid the national minimum wage for an apprentice for the first 12 months and then NMW for the remainder of their apprenticeship
- Are entitled to sick pay and holiday pay
- Don’t pay for their training
- Learn in the workplace whilst contributing to the workforce
Apprenticeships:
- Offer a great way for employers to welcome people to their workforce and for individuals to kick start their career
- Take between one and six years to complete
- Range from intermediate (GCSE equivalent) level to Degree level
- Provide a nationally recognised qualification
- Help to retain and up skill current members of staff
