Information for Employers
Apprenticeships are a great way to recruit new members to your team, they provide a structured training programme that is delivered and managed by an accredited training provide chosen by you. An apprentice is part of your team who will study a nationally recognised qualification alongside their day-to-day responsibilities required of their role.
Recruiting an apprentice should be no different to your normal recruitment process, in fact you’ll have more support as your chosen training provider can often help with your recruitment. Find more information on how to recruit an apprentice here.
You can also upskill and train current employees by enrolling them onto a relevant apprenticeship standard.
Funding Apprenticeship Training
If your organisation doesn’t pay the Apprenticeship Levy, then you are able to receive a transfer of funds from a levy paying employer to pay for apprenticeship training.
The One Gloucestershire Apprenticeship Network Group has set up an ‘Apprenticeship Levy Transfer Service’. This service is designed to reduce Levy funds expiring, help non levy paying employers fund apprenticeship training, increase the number of apprenticeship opportunities within Gloucestershire. Apprenticeship Incentive Payments
Employers will receive £3,000 for new apprentices of any age who join their organisation from 1 April 2021 to 30 September 2021.
Apprenticeships will be more important than ever in helping businesses to recruit the right people and develop the skills they need to recover and grow – both now and in the long-term. Due to the economic impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the government has introduced incentive payments for hiring a new apprentice to help organisations offer new apprenticeships.
In addition, employers hiring new apprentices aged 16 to 18 and those under 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan will receive a further £1000 paid to them.
Both payments are made in two instalments at the three month and twelve month point of the apprenticeship.
