Dementia Education Team
The Dementia Education Team sits within the NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board and is hosted by Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust. The team offer free training to all social care and health staff in Gloucestershire, including those in the voluntary and independent sector, and those caring for a person with dementia.
Please note that the training offers are aimed at professional carers; it is advised that unpaid carers (including family and friends of a person with dementia), please see the training offered by the Managing Memory Together - Information and Education Service.
The Dementia Education Team offer in-person or online generic One Day Dementia training, as well as a specific in-person half-day training on Learning Disability and Dementia. The team also offer an opportunity to learn about all aspects of dementia, with either the Dementia Link Worker Award or the Dementia Lead Award, which run alongside each other. Both provide an in-depth opportunity to learn a range of skills and responses when supporting people with dementia. For those people who have completed the in-depth training, a Train the Trainer programme is also available. Training is available to view and book via the LearnPro Community platform.
