Exercise

Step right up! It's the miracle cure we've all been waiting for.

It can reduce your risk of major illnesses, such as coronary heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer and lower your risk of early death by up to 30%.

Look at resources from National Walking Month here.

For more support to be physically active, visit: https://hlsglos.org/ or visit www.nhs.uk/better-health for tips and ideas.

It's free, easy to do, has an immediate effect and you don't need a GP to get some. Its name? Exercise. See Benefits of exercise - NHS (www.nhs.uk) for more details.

See also Exercise - NHS (www.nhs.uk) for general information and BBC - Make Your Move, Movement - The Couch to 5K Challenge - #MakeYourMove for BBC sounds couch to 5k details.

There are many free classes available online to do classes in your own home from Yoga to High Impact.

One option could be to attend a local Parkrun, there are several in Gloucestershire.

Parkrun is a free, community event where you can walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate. Parkrun is 5k and takes place every Saturday morning. Junior parkrun is 2k, dedicated to 4-14 year olds and their families, every Sunday morning.

It is positive, welcoming and inclusive, there is no time limit and no one finishes last as there's an official tail walker who is always the last one to finish.

Everyone is welcome to go along.

See Parkrun page for more information.  Good luck.

You could also consider doing the Couch to 5k plan, see the NHS or BBC support available.
